The creator behind bspProtect

Hello!

I’m Jakob, the sole developer and individual running and maintaining bspProtect. Thanks for being here and considering my service!

After over 10 years of creating maps for Garry’s Mod and other Source Engine titles under the name KingPommes, I had to learn that not everyone in the Source Modding Community acts in good faith. Especially, once I had started creating Roleplay focused maps, more and more maps started popping up containing chunks of my originial designs or where even outright rebranded copies of my hard work. This didn’t sit right with me…

I knew there were tools with “protection” out there to stop decompilers from producing vmfs from my maps but they were and still are very easy to circumvent. After bspSource becoming the norm, these methods are outright worthless. I had to create my own!

That’s exactly what you’re looking at right now. The outcome of countless hours of meticulously reverse-engineering of the BSP file format and coming up with new and previously unseen methods of byte level obfuscation.
